Grants for dental work come from unique resources and often are given to those in lower socio-economic statuses.   However, if you live in or around the Illinois area, you may qualify for dental work using the grants programs offered through Illinois Children’s Healthcare Foundation.  Under this program, dental services are being provided with grant money that aids in providing resources for children and their families.   For children of inmates, this can be a vital way to obtain grants for dental work that is needed to maintain good oral health.   For adults, especially those with felonies, this funding provides a way to care for children while freeing up family finances so adults can get dental work as well.    In fact, $2.4 million dollars has been awarded to 12 organizations in Illinois for the purpose of providing grants for dental work to both adults and children.  If you live in and around this area, and if you have a felony or if you are caring for children of inmates,  contact this organization as well as SmileHealthy and Frances Nelson Health Center – all organizations who are involved in these types of resources for felons.    In addition, if you have an interest in these types of healthcare services, you may also want to look into working in this field as many grant organizations will allow for convicted felons jobs as well.

Government grants for felons can be found through a variety of social services in your community but also through federal and state programs.   If you are the parent, or legal guardian, of children who have a parent who is incarcerated, it is important to look for government grants programs that are designed for low income families.  For example, children of inmates can typically obtain Pell grants to go to college in they have a parent who is incarcerated for a felony conviction.  The reason for this is because the parent has very little income, if any, which entitles the dependent children to financial aid for school.  Passports for children can also be paid for through local grants that help felons, and their families with maintaining legal documents necessary for travel.  When looking for grants, keep in mind that not only are social private companies willing to help but the children of inmates are often eligible for a whole array of grants through private and public organizations.
