Grants for Felons Using Military Family Charities

College grants for felons often come through Pell grants and grants geared directly to convicted felons as an at-risk group. There are other grants you may be able to use, however, and these can come through your connections with businesses and government services. If you were in the military, or if you have family who is in the military, you may be able to utilize the college grants offered through Army Aviation Scholarship Foundation. This program offers grants to military personnel, and their families, after receiving donations from private organizations and other military family charities.  While there are many military charities that offer assistance with student loans to study abroad, most will help with grants instead of loans, and most want your education to be local to one of their chapters.   In addition, once you have completed your education, these same military family charities may even help you find felon jobs that do not require a background check.   The point all of this is that, when you are a convicted felon, you have to think outside the box and look for ways to get education grants and funding from sources that are close to your family and may have nothing to do with your felony conviction.

Grants for Felons with Tuition Reimbursement Employers

Grants for felons can come through a variety of resources that do not care about your felony conviction.   While there are many grant programs that are specifically for felons who want to go to school, there are also many grants for school that do not even care what your background is.   If you’ve had trouble finding school grants for felons in your search for funding, then you may want to consider this unique idea – tuition reimbursement employers.   With many employers still offering tuition reimbursement as part of their employee benefits packages, you can get funding for school very easily.   While this type of funding will require that you pay for school upfront, it does guarantee that you will be reimbursed that tuition if you work for an employer for a specified period of time, major in a program that is related to your work, and if you are maintaining an average grade level.   To find these types of programs, start by contacting unions that specialize in the careers or education you want to pursue.  Many union organizations can provide not only a list of companies that hire felons but also a list of companies with tuition reimbursement options for the jobs.
